    FAQs

Below are answers to some of the questions we are asked most often. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please call us on (02) 9832 5800 or contact us.

    Who is Minchinbury Manor?

Minchinbury Manor is a residential aged care home in Rooty Hill, caring for older people in Western Sydney since 2004. It is a sister organisation to Advantaged Care.

We provide a full range of care and services, including dementia care, palliative care and respite care.

    What are the costs?

Aged care costs are largely set by the Australian Government. Depending on your circumstances, you may need to pay:

    • Basic daily fee – paid by all residents and set by the Government. It covers everyday living costs such as meals, cleaning, laundry, heating and cooling.
    • Hotelling contribution – a means-tested contribution towards everyday living costs, worked out by Services Australia based on your income and assets.
    • Non-clinical care contribution – a means-tested contribution towards non-clinical care, such as help with bathing and mobility and lifestyle activities. Annual and lifetime caps apply.
    • Accommodation payment – the cost of your room. Depending on your means assessment, the Government may pay some or all of this for you.

You can pay for your room as a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD – a lump sum), a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP), or a combination of both. For residents who enter care on or after 1 November 2025, a small amount of the RAD is retained each year for up to five years, and the DAP is indexed twice a year.

Your clinical care is fully funded by the Government. Different arrangements may apply if you entered aged care before 1 November 2025.

We encourage you and your family to contact us to talk through your situation. You can also find more information at My Aged Care or by calling 1800 200 422.

What are higher everyday living services?

In addition to the standard services every resident receives, we offer optional services that provide a higher level of accommodation and hospitality, more like staying at a highly rated hotel than a motel. These are offered for an additional agreed fee (known as a higher everyday living fee), which you can choose whether to take up. Please contact us to find out what is available.

    What services are included?

Your fees cover your living costs, including accommodation, care, cleaning, laundry, food and the activities provided for our residents. We have an onsite kitchen and chefs who prepare a choice of fresh, high-quality meals and snacks every day, including hot and cold options. Our onsite laundry helps reduce the frustration of clothes going missing, and our activities team keeps residents active and interested.

Some services provided by third parties may cost extra, for example clothes and personal items, some medications, doctor and medical fees, hairdressing and some excursions.

    What about a doctor?

You will need a nominated doctor before you move in. You can keep your existing doctor, or we can give you a list of doctors who visit Minchinbury Manor.

    What about physiotherapy?

We provide physiotherapy and pain management onsite according to your assessed needs. Additional physiotherapy can be arranged at an extra cost.

Is Minchinbury Manor secure and safe?

Minchinbury Manor has modern fire protection systems, including sprinklers, heat and smoke detectors, fire and smoke zones, early warning intercom systems and fire indicator panels, all integrated with our nurse call system.

Security features include an integrated door locking system with intercoms so staff can screen visitors at the entry before allowing access, electronic keypads that control access to different parts of the building, and video monitoring (CCTV).

How do you employ people and what are their qualifications?

Minchinbury Manor is led by a Facility Manager, who is your first point of contact for admissions and day-to-day enquiries, and a Director of Care, who leads our clinical team. Both roles are held by Registered Nurses, giving them a holistic and clinical understanding of our residents’ needs. Our care team goes through a rigorous recruitment process to make sure we provide the very best care for every resident.

What personal items and furnishings can I bring?

Our rooms are fully furnished, but we welcome residents to bring furnishings, pictures and belongings that help them feel at home and maintain their individuality, subject to a safety check.
